Why You'll Love This Recipe
- Easy recipe for a pizza night!
- You can make them ahead and bake them later.
- Perfect addition to your dinner recipes or as a great snack for game day!
- Homemade dough makes these better than frozen pizza rolls!
Ingredient Notes
- Pizza Sauce - Pick up a jar of your favorite pizza sauce. If you don't want store-bought sauce, here is a homemade Pizza Sauce recipe. OR an 8 oz can of tomato sauce with 2 teaspoon of Italian Seasoning whisked in works in a pinch, too!
- Toppings - you can use any toppings you want. Pepperoni, Canadian bacon, Italian sausage, or even chicken. Any kind of veggies or even pineapple work too! If using pepperoni, might I suggest the mini pepperonis. The smaller pieces are just so handy for this easy recipe!
- Flour - All-Purpose flour
- Cheese -You can use any cheese or cheese blend you prefer. I usually use either freshly grated mozzarella or a bag of an Italian blend from the store.
- Yeast - Instant yeast, dry active yeast, and rapid-rise yeast are all the same thing, so you can use them interchangeably.
Couple Things You'll Need
Step by Step Instructions
- In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook or in a large bowl with a wooden spoon, add the yeast and sugar to the warm water.
- Allow it to stand and get foamy (about 5 minutes).
- Add the olive oil.
- Add the salt and flour.
- Knead into a sticky dough.
- Cover and let rise until doubled.
- Dump dough out onto a lightly floured surface and divide in half.
- Roll out each half and sprinkle with your favorite toppings.
- Don't go super thick with the toppings because it will make it harder to roll up.
- Sprinkle with cheese.
- Roll up cinnamon roll style into a tight log.
- The best way to cut these into slices about an inch thick is using dental floss.
- Place on a baking sheet sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
- Cover and let rise for 20 minutes while your oven preheats to 350 degrees
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. The tops will just barely be turning golden brown.
- Cool slightly before serving.
- Carefully heat the pizza sauce in the microwave and serve it with the pizza rolls as a dipping sauce!
- Store leftovers in an airtight container or ziplock bag.
Recipe FAQs
Yes, after placing the sliced pizza rolls on a baking sheet, place the baking sheet in the fridge instead of letting rise. They will finish rising in the fridge. Then bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
Alfredo sauce is a great alternative to pizza sauce to dip these in.
