Ditch the cold cereal for breakfast and give these whole wheat oatmeal pancakes a try! A healthier, heartier alternative your family will love!!!
My family really likes pancakes for breakfast, but I get tired of having my Fluffy Buttermilk Pancakes over and over again. So to change things up I came up with these whole wheat oatmeal pancakes. They are a little heavier than regular buttermilk pancakes, but they are quite tasty. Whole wheat oatmeal pancakes aren't any more difficult to make than any other kind of pancake, either. So change up your breakfast and try this recipe!!!
How to make these pancakes:
- Heat up your griddle!
- In a mixing bowl whisk together the whole wheat flour, all purpose flour, quick oats, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
- Stir in the buttermilk, egg, canola oil and vanilla.
- Scoop out the batter by heaping ¼ cupfuls and dump onto your hot griddle. Pat the batter out into circles slightly with the back of your scoop.
- Cook both sides until golden!
- Serve!
Are pancakes made with whole wheat and oatmeal good for you?
They are bit healthier for you than regular pancakes. I really think that how healthy your pancakes are comes down to what you put on them. These could be the healthiest pancakes in the world but if you drown them with a ton of syrup then in really doesn't matter how healthy the pancake was.
