Ingredient Notes

  • Mayo - Low-fat or olive oil mayo varieties of mayo work well too!
  • Apple Cider Vinegar - I can use white vinegar; however, it doesn't taste quite the same.
  • Bacon - You will need approximately 8 slices of bacon for this recipe. You can substitute a package of precooked bacon pieces.
  • Cheese - You can use either cheddar cheese or a cheddar cheese blend of your choice.
  • Broccoli - Always use fresh broccoli florets for this recipe.
  • Sunflower Seeds - I used roasted and salted seeds.

Step by Step Instructions

  • Crisp and crumble the bacon. Set aside to drain on paper towels for a moment.
  • Cut the raw broccoli into bite-sized, small pieces and put them in a large bowl.
  • Chop up the red onion and shred the cheese.
  • Add the red onions, cheese, sunflower seeds, and bacon to the crunchy broccoli and toss to mix.

Toss small broccoli florets, red onions, bacon, sunflower seeds, and shredded cheese together!
  • In a small bowl, whisk the cup of mayonnaise, sugar, and vinegar together for the sweet, tangy dressing.
  • Pour it over the broccoli mixture.
  • Stir to coat all the salad pieces.
  • Serve or refrigerate until serving.

Ingredients
  

  • 6 Cups Broccoli bite-size
  • 1 Cup Cheddar cheese shredded
  • ยฝ lb. Bacon crisped and crumbled
  • ยฝ Cup Red Onion chopped
  • 1 Cup Sunflower Seeds roasted, salted

Dressing:

  • 1 Cup Mayo
  • ยฝ Cup Sugar
  • 2 Tbs. Cider Vinegar

Instructions
 

  • Chop, grate, prepare, and measure the broccoli, red onions, bacon, cheese, and sunflower seeds.
  • Add them all to a mixing bowl and toss to mix.
  • Whisk together the mayo, sugar, and vinegar for the dressing.
  • Pour it over the broccoli salad.
  • Mix well
  • Serve or refrigerate until serving.

Notes

  • I like to make this salad a few hours ahead of time to allow the dressing to soak into the salad a bit and blend the flavors.
