Ingredient Notes

  • Mayo - Low fat or olive oil mayo varieties of mayo work well too!
  • Apple Cider Vinegar - I can use white vinegar however it doesn't taste quite the same.
  • Bacon - You will need approximately 8 slices bacon for this recipe. You can substitute a package of precooked bacon pieces.
  • Cheese - You can use either cheddar cheese or a cheddar cheese blend of you choice.
  • Broccoli - Always use fresh broccoli florets for this recipe.
  • Sunflower Seeds - I used roasted and salted seeds.

Just a few ingredients for this easy broccoli salad recipe!

Step by Step Instructions

  • Crisp and crumble the bacon. Set aside to drain on paper towels for a moment.
  • Cut the raw broccoli in bite sized, small pieces and put them in a large bowl.
  • Chop up the red onion and shred the cheese.
  • Add the red onions, cheese, sunflower seeds and bacon to the crunchy broccoli and toss to mix.
First 5 Ingredients mixed together in a mixing bowl.
Toss small broccoli florets, red onions, bacon, sunflower seeds and shredded cheese together!
  • In a small bowl, whisk the cup mayonnaise, sugar and vinegar together for the sweet tangy dressing.
  • Pour it over the broccoli mixture.
  • Stir to coat all the salad pieces.
  • Serve or refrigerate until serving.

Description

Need a quick and easy salad with just a few ingredients?  The blend of broccoli, cheese and bacon with an easy dressing makes a delicious side that people will be begging you for the recipe to!


Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 6 cups Bite Size Broccoli
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • ½ lb. Bacon crisped and crumbled
  • ½ cup Chopped Red Onion
  • 1 cup Roasted, Salted Sunflower Seeds

Dressing:

  • 1 cup Mayo
  • ½ cup Sugar
  • 2 Tbs. Cider Vinegar

Instructions

  1. Chop, grate, prepare and measure the broccoli, red onions, bacon, cheese and sunflower seeds.
  2. Add them all to a mixing bowl and toss to mix.
  3. Whisk together the mayo, sugar and vinegar for the dressing.
  4. Pour it over the broccoli salad.
  5. Mix well
  6. Serve or refrigerate until serving.

Notes

  • I like to make this salad a few hours ahead of time to allow the dressing to soak into the salad a bit and blend the flavors.
