Sweet breakfast biscuits are a sweet way to start off your day! You’ll love these sugar cookie-like biscuits with their sweet tops!
Thought I would post something other than cookies today. I know that this time of year a lot of people are looking for a quick, yet special something to make for Christmas morning breakfast. Even though these sweet breakfast biscuits are great anytime of year I think they would make a yummy Christmas breakfast or brunch, too! My kids love these! They call them “the things we eat for breakfast that taste like sugar cookies.” They are not time consuming and are fairly easy to make. You can eat them as is or serve them with jam, whipped cream or fresh fruit. Check out my recipe for Breakfast Strawberry Shortcake using these biscuits! We usually eat them with eggs, bacon or sausage, and orange juice, too. So try them and make your holiday breakfast a little sweeter!
After you have mixed up the biscuit dough, dump it onto a lightly floured surface and pat it out to 1/2 inch thick. Cut out biscuits with a 2 12 inch biscuit cutter. This biscuit dough is just a bit stickier than a regular biscuit dough so you may need to flour the biscuit cutter.
Place the cut out biscuits on a baking sheet sprayed with non-stick cooking spray or lined with parchment paper. I prefer to use parchment paper for these because the sugar and cream that goes on the tops can drip and the parchment makes clean up easier.
Take the remaining 1/4 cup of heavy cream and brush it on the tops of the biscuits. Then generously sprinkle the tops with sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 15-18 minutes. the bottom edges should be golden brown. Cool completely and serve. Enjoy!

Makes 10 to 11 Biscuits
- 2 Cups Flour
- 1/3 Cup Sugar
- 2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/3 Cup Butter, chilled
- 1 Egg
- 1 tsp Vanilla (pure vanilla is preferable)
- 3/4 Cup Heavy Whipping Cream
- 1/4 Cup Heavy Whipping Cream
- White Sugar for sprinkling
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or spray with non-stick cooking spray.
In a mixing bowl or in a food processor, whisk together the flour, sugar, and baking powder. Cut in the butter until well blended.
Stir in the heavy cream, egg, and vanilla.
Once the dough comes together dump it out on a lightly floured surface and pat it to about 1/2 inch thick. This dough may be a little sticky. Lightly flouring your fingers may help. Cut out the biscuits with a 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Brush the tops of the biscuits with the 1/4 cup of heavy cream and generously sprinkle the top of the cream with the sugar.
Bake at 400 degrees for 15-18 minutes. The bottom edges should be golden brown.
Cool completely and serve.
