My Buttermilk Cornbread recipe is not only quick and easy, it makes an incredibly tasty and moist cornbread that your whole family will love!

A stack of cornbread squares.

I wanted to re-share my cornbread recipe today because I never realized how many people buy boxed cornbread mixes.  I'm not sure if they think homemade cornbread is harder to make or that it's less expensive or perhaps they've never had a good recipe.  Whatever the reason may be let me show you how to make a delicious cornbread that is easy, inexpensive and I guarantee you will love!

How to make buttermilk cornbread:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray an 8 inch square baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, stir together melted butter (use real butter) and sugar. Add the eggs and buttermilk. Stir until well combined.
  • Add the baking soda and salt, mix well.
  • Stir in the cornmeal and flour. Mix until few lumps remain.
  • Pour batter into prepared baking dish.
  • Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes. A toothpick should come out nearly clean with a few moist crumbs clinging to it.
  • Run a cube of butter over the hot top.

What do you eat with cornbread?

Cornbread is a Thanksgiving staple.  It also goes well with salads, soups, and chilis.
