My Buttermilk Cornbread recipe is not only quick and easy; it makes an incredibly tasty and moist cornbread that your whole family will love!

A stack of cornbread squares.

I wanted to re-share my cornbread recipe today because I never realized how many people buy boxed cornbread mixes.

I'm not sure if they think homemade cornbread is harder to make, or that it's less expensive, or perhaps they've never had a good recipe.

Whatever the reason may be, let me show you how to make a delicious cornbread that is easy and inexpensive, and I guarantee you will love it!

How to make buttermilk cornbread:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray an 8-inch square baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, stir together melted butter (use real butter) and sugar. Add the eggs and buttermilk. Stir until well combined.
  • Add the baking soda and salt, and mix well.
  • Stir in the cornmeal and flour. Mix until a few lumps remain.
  • Pour batter into the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes. A toothpick should come out nearly clean with a few moist crumbs clinging to it.
  • Run a cube of butter over the hot top.

Store it in an airtight container or cover with saran wrap.
