Why You'll Love This Recipe
- Moist cake with a delicious honey flavor!
- Freezes well!
- Quick and easy recipe!
Ingredient Notes and Substitutions
- Flour - All purpose flour, never self rising flour.
- Honey - Creamed honey is ok but regular honey is best to use for this recipe.
- Milk - Whole milk or 2% milk works best.
- Butter - I used salted butter but you can use unsalted butter as well.
Couple Things You'll Need
Step by Step Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Spray a 9x13 baking sheet with non stick cooking spray.
- Start by melting the butter in the microwave.
- Add the ½ cup honey to the melted butter and whisk well.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk the dry ingredients (flour, white sugar, baking powder and salt) together.
- Add the wet ingredients (honey mixture, milk and large eggs) to the flour mixture.
- Mix with a wooden spoon just until no white streaks remain and the batter has come together.
- NOTE - This batter/dough does appear a little odd. It's thick with texture unlike a cake batter. So don't panic it's how it's supposed to be.
- Spread evenly into a thin layer in the prepared pan. This is a stiffer batter so it takes a little bit of effort to spread it out evenly.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. A toothpick should come out clean and the top of the cake should be golden brown.
- Cool cake slightly on a wire rack.
- Serve warm with butter and honey. Goes well with fresh fruit and a tall glass of orange juice or Orange Julius!
- Store by covering cooled honey cake with a lid or plastic wrap. No need to refrigerate, room temperature is fine.
