In the mood for something different? Try these amazing Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies! Not only are they are soft and chocolatey, they are quick and easy too!

Three chocolate oatmeal cookies

I was in the mood to make cookies, but I didn't want to make the same kinds we usually have.  I like to tweak ordinary cookie recipes into something just a little different.  These chocolate oatmeal cookies are awesome!  They are soft, chocolatey and really quick to make as well.  You can leave them plain or stir in some chocolate chips, nuts or different flavored chips.  I would love to know what you think!  Leave me a comment and let me know!

How to make these cookies:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and line your baking sheets with parchment paper or lightly spray them with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar
  3. Beat in the egg and milk.
  4. Add the baking powder, salt and cocoa powder.  Mix well.
  5. Stir in the flour and oatmeal.
  6. Scoop the cookie dough out onto the prepared baking sheets by the tablespoonfuls.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
  8. Cool and eat!

Is it really 1C flour for 12Tbsp of butter? My dough was too wet, qst batch was a total loss, had to add in another ¾C flour to get a proper cookie dough and get ok cookies

Yes, that's correct. The oatmeal acts as flour in addition to the flour. Did you substitute any ingredients? What types of flour and oatmeal did you use?
