Breakfast Honey Bread

This easy recipe is perfect for the honey lovers in your life! A piece of this moist honey cake with butter and more honey slathered on top is an excellent way to start your day! Whether you eat it for breakfast, brunch or even a special occasion this recipe will never fail you!


Units Scale
  • 3 cups Flour
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 5 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 6 Tbs Honey
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 2 Large Eggs


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Spray a 9x13 baking sheet with non stick cooking spray.
  3. Start by melting the butter in the microwave.
  4. Add the 1/2 cup honey to the melted butter and whisk well.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the dry ingredients (flour, white sugar, baking powder and salt) together.
  6. Add the wet ingredients (honey mixture, milk and large eggs) to the flour mixture.
  7. Mix with a wooden spoon just until no white streaks remain and the batter has come together.
  8. NOTE - This batter/dough does appear a little odd. It's thick with texture unlike a cake batter. So don't panic it's how it's supposed to be.
  9. Spread evenly into a thin layer in the prepared pan.  This is a stiffer batter so it takes  a little bit of effort to spread it out evenly.  
  10. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. A toothpick should come out clean and the top of the cake should be golden brown.
  11. Cool cake slightly on a wire rack.
  12. Serve warm with butter and honey. 


  • Store by covering cooled honey cake with a lid or plastic wrap. No need to refrigerate, room temperature is fine.
