One ingredient and no special equipment! Get moist, flavorful rotisserie chicken at home with this easy oven rotisserie chicken recipe!
Rotisserie chicken. We all love it, but we don’t all have the grill attachments or other equipment necessary to make it at home, right? Wrong! Did you know you can make rotisserie style chicken in your oven with nothing special needed? It’s true! You can! All you need is an oven, a chicken and a casserole dish. I know that a lot of stores sell rotisserie chicken, but I personally just don’t have time to run to the store to pick one up after my kids come home from school. It’s pretty chaotic here after 3:00. Even if I did get to the store to get one, the flavor I wanted is most likely gone and their chickens are so small that I would need two. So this easy oven rotisserie chicken is my solution for this problem.
You can use any 3 lb. whole chicken, but my preference is to get these seasoned whole chickens. Today we are having the sweet BBQ flavor, but there are 2 or 3 other flavors taste great, too. When these go on sale I buy several and put them in the freezer.
Preheat your oven to 250 degrees and spray a casserole dish with non-stick cooking spray. Place the chicken in the dish. Just a note here, if your chicken isn’t already giblet and neck free you will need to remove them from the inside of the chicken. I’ve been asked why not just put the chicken in a slow cooker. The reason is I want that crispy skin that seals in the chicken juices and flavor just like a regular rotisserie chicken. Bake the chicken uncovered for 5 hours. That’s it! Enjoy!
